BREAST IMPLANTS (Augmentation Mammaplasty)
Our patients have shown a boost of self-esteem, confidence and positive feelings about their sexuality after undergoing a breast implant procedure.
Is this for me?
If you’re tired of double-padded push-up bras, not being able to fit into lingerie properly, or just want to have a more voluptuous and womanly body, breast augmentation may be for you. This procedure enhances the size and shape of the breast. If your breasts are uneven, Breast Asymmetry Surgery will help balance the size and create symmetry. Another popular procedure, especially amongst women post-childbirth, is the breast lift procedure. This procedure helps restore the shape, tone and balance of breasts that may have started dropping or sagging.
The most common places for insertion (where the incision will be made) are on the lower edge of the areola (periareolar incision), in the fold just under the breast (inframammary incision), under the arm (transaxillary incision), or through the navel. This last one is limited only to saline implants, which are inserted while empty. The implants are chosen based on the volume and shape desired. Choices include both round and contoured. This includes a low, moderate, high, and extra high profile implant or the new highly cohesive anatomically shaped implant, depending on the amount of lift you want. Sometimes an implant of less volume, but with a higher profile, may provide greater lift than one with bigger volume and a lower profile. Other criteria used to choose the type of implant may involve the width of the breast, to correct any issues with asymmetry or other deformities.
After a breast augmentation, the patient will be able to breast feed, and can still follow usual exams, mammograms, and ultrasounds required to ensure health and the early detection of tumors. There is no increased risk for developing cancer after receiving a breast augmentation.
