CHEST SURGERY FOR MEN (Gynecomastia)
Chest Plastic Surgery for Men
The chest is a prominent part of the body, and for many men, having too much fat or not enough muscle in this area can lower self-confidence. There are two main types of chest surgery: a chest (pectoral) implant, or chest reduction (also known as Gynecomastia surgery).
Is this for me?
Chest reduction: If your chest is overdeveloped, too fatty, or enlarged, then a chest reduction procedure may be for you. In addition, if you have loose skin that sags across the chest, this procedure can help. The procedure is a good option if you are physically healthy and of relatively normal weight, your breast development has stabilized and you are bothered that your breasts are too large.
The procedure removes fat and or glandular tissue from the breasts, and in extreme cases removes excess skin, resulting in a chest that is firmer, flatter and better contoured.
In a typical procedure, a small incision is made in an inconspicuous location - either on the edge of the areola or in the underarm area. Working through the incision, the surgeon removes the excess glandular tissue, fat and larger incisions are needed if excess skin needs to be removed.
